The NAS Oceana Aviation Historical Park located just inside the main gate on Tomcat Blvd. is an outdoor park that is open daily. The Park includes 13 aircraft on display:

Douglas XAD-1 (Skyraider)

Attack Aircraft: 1962 - Present
Douglas A-4F (Skyhawk)
Grumman KA-6D (Intruder)
Vought A-7E Corsair

Fighter Aircraft: 1922 - 1962
Douglas F4D-1 (Skyray)
Grumman F11F-1 (Tiger)
Grumman F9F-2 (Panther)
McDonnell F2H-4 (Banshee)
North American FJ-3 (Fury)

Fighter Aircraft: 1962 - Present
Grumman F-14A (Tomcat)

There are two observation parks located near the runways to watch aircraft take-off and land. One is located on Oceana Boulevard at the Flame of Hope POW/MIA memorial, and the other is off London Bridge road on the opposite side of the air station.

Base tours are conducted during weekdays from June 7 through September 3 , 2004 and are available via the Virginia Beach HRT Tour Bus. The tour depart 24th and Atlantic Avenue at the Kiosk at 9 and 11:30 a.m. Cost for the tour is $7.50 for adults and children under 12 and seniors $5.00. The 11:30 tour stops at the Officers' Club for lunch with a cost of around $5.00. No reservations are required for the tour. A souvinor shop is located in the Aviation Historical Park for visitors. No backpacks are allowed and a photo ID is required for all adults.

Tour schedule and Information is as follows:

Tour Fee. Public Tours run May-September, 9:30 am & 11:30 am

Departure Site: Tours depart at the oceanfront, 24th and Atlantic Ave., Virginia Beach. No backpacks allowed/Photo ID required for those 16 years or older.

Tour Highlights:
Visitors will observe some of the 250 jet aircraft, including F-14 Tomcat and F/A-18 Hornet Strike fighters. This tour is the only opportunity to view aircraft on the flight line and visit the Aviation Historical Park.

Directions from Interstate:
Take Interstate 264 East towards Virginia Beach, take Exit 21 (Colonial Ave.) and keep straight. Once you cross Virginia Beach Blvd it becomes Oceana Blvd. which takes you to the Flame of Hope Park Observation area.
